Conference programme: an overview
The Second International Conference Arts & Technology (ArtsIT) will be held in Esbjerg from 7th December to 8th December 2011. Supporting this main event will be two related symposiums, namely the inaugural “GameAbilitation” symposium and the 6th “ArtAbilitation” symposium. Also supporting will be the 2nd “Ludic Engagement Designs for All” (LEDA) seminar event. It is anticipated that by adding these events that have a history of success (i.e. ArtAbilitation and LEDA) and by adding another that takes advantage of the prolific interest and adoption across disciplines of digital games, a major interest will result.
The opening of the new Aalborg University Center of Design, Learning & innovation will coincide with the event. This will feature invited international luminaries. The Conference and associated Grand Opening of the new Aalborg University Centre for Design, Learning and Innovation is an outstanding opportunity for attendees to gain insight to trans-disciplinary activities that are making strong impacts in society. This event presents a wonderful opportunity for the region, the country of Denmark, and Scandinavia - as the European representatives - to highlight how Denmark supports such activities.
Tutorials, workshops, and presentations will combine to make the conference a memorable event. As well as these scientific, academic and societal aspects, the local organizing committee will focus on the event being a vehicle to showcase the regional industrial profile, in other words, the education, research, tourism, energy, and other perspectives that are key drivers. In line with this, an exhibition will feature latest developments across various fields.
The organizing committee are planning a concentrated European initiative that showcases Danish and Esbjerg hospitality, friendliness, and welcome. Appropriately, Esbjerg has on numerous occasions been selected as the ‘Danish city of the Year’. This is a strong recommendation for those considering attending the conference.
